“How does psychoanalysis work?”
Talk by Mark Pearson

Monday 23 November 2015

7.00pm - 8.30pm (tea and coffee from 6.30pm)

Venue: The Quaker Meeting House, St James Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 1JP

Mark PearsonDifferent schools of analysis all have specific ways of conceptualising the ways they help or change their recipients. They also take different views on the content and nature of unconscious thinking and feeling. Mark Pearson will attempt a rapid run-through from Freud via Jung, Klein, Winnicott and Bion, to the modern wonders of Yalom, Mindfulness and CBT, to examine what may be missing from our thinking. Is suggestion, behaviourism and confession of sins with absolution still alive in the consulting room?

Mark Pearson is a retired consultant psychotherapist from the NHS regional psychotherapy service at Uffculme Clinic and Devon House.

All are welcome, especially guests with no psychotherapy training, but an interest in psychoanalysis.
