Introductory Course to Contemporary Psychoanalytic Ideas 2012
This course will be of interest to people working in the helping professions who wish to further their knowledge and skill base in psychoanalytic ideas. Interested individuals might include psychiatrists, psychologists, counsellors, general practitioners, nurses, clergy, teachers with pastoral interest, and others. This course may also appeal to those considering more intensive training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at a later stage.

Seminar 2.00-3.10pm Break 3.10-3.30pm Clinical discussion 3.30-4.30pm

Topics covered will include: the nature of psyche, the major psychoanalytic models (Freud, Jung and Klein), the unconscious, defences, the analytic relationship, transference/counter-transference, attachment theory, psychopathology, neuropsychological aspects, evidence and research in the psychoanalytical field. (A more detailed course outline will be available shortly.)
