Coming in to Life
Speaker: Diane Bhurruth
Diane’s paper explores Jung’s idea that analysis is a relational space in which the patient discovers his or her inner story; a story which for many has never been told: it is a secret story. She explores Jung’s theory of the dissociability of the psyche and the trauma complex as the agents that keep our inner stories secret. Her paper centres upon the unfolding complex transference and countertransference relationship as the key to unlocking her patient’s hidden story. Her paper is a story of how dissociative and life-denying defences were able to be transformed in to life-enhancing forms of relating.
Diane Bhurruth is a Jungian Analytical Psychotherapist. She is a Senior Adult Psychotherapist working in the NHS Department of Psychotherapy in Nottingham. She also has a private practice in Matlock Bath, Derbyshire.
