This seminar will look at how Social Media, Gaming, Film and TV affect the engagement of clients with day to day realities and how Donald Winnicott’s work on transitional space informs our understanding of this phenomenon. For each area of the digital media, I will include the most recent audience studies research.
Karin Qureshi is manager of Counselling, Mental Health and Wellbeing services at Birmingham City University. Karin has worked in higher education for 16 years and in NHS psychiatry and clinical psychology for 20 years prior to this. She has a particular interest in film and Winnicott and is completing an MA in screen studies which includes the ideas and concepts of Winnicott and how these have influenced and informed the study of audiences.
This event is open to all and is free for WMIP Members and first-time visitors.
